About Annual Meeting
This paper ventures to articulate sociologically, and without indirection, a phenomenon that has, as we shall see, been spoken around for some time. It describes the link between an individual’s stated racial preference in sexual partner choice and that individual’s selection of a neighborhood in which to live because it has a high percentage of members of the preferred race. The data were collected from user profiles on a dating, or so-called hookup, website. This paper explores the potential of ICTs in the form of dating sites as sources that provide new data sets to investigate social phenomena.
