Sustainable Energy Debate as Public Drama

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to further sociological inquiry into the politics of environmental knowledge through a case-study of the debate over uranium mining in the U.S. state of Virginia. The case will be presented through a dramaturgical perspective, will emphasize the underlying cultural organization of the debate, and will seek to integrate realist and constructivist modes of explanation.
