Abstract

This session will cover some of the conceptual and methodological breadth in examining how the environment affects health. Gasteyer, Lai, and Moss calls for for researchers to examine specific environmental problems within a geographic area. In this paper, water, which is a taken-for-granted resource, is unevenly distributed in different communities. Noah and Kravitz-Wirtz examine different dimensions of the environment on different health outcomes. Richter assesses how scientific evidence about the environment is or is not incorporated into the larger national health care agenda.
