Abstract

This panel brings together qualitative and quantitative scholars to discuss methodological challenges that arise when applying traditional sociological methods to LGBTQ populations. Conducting research with sexual and gender minorities raises a host of issues pertaining to recruitment, ethics, measurement, and cultural meanings, along with implications for challenging normative conceptions of what constitutes positivist, post-positivist, essentialist, constructionist, and queer social research.
