Abstract

Participants will reflect on the effects of global capitalism on women in the area of the world which they have studied, and explore the relevance of Marxist theory to understand different aspects of women's oppression under those conditions. What do Marx and Marxist theory have to offer today? Rather than revisiting the old debates, we are seeking new viewpoints on the contribution of Marx to contemporary issues.
