2. One who opens up new areas of thought, research, or development: a pioneer in aviation. Or the study of sexuality!
In this session, leading figures in the sociological study of sexuality—the pioneers of the field—discuss the rigorous and important theoretical developments and research that sexuality scholars have been engaged in for more than 40 years. They identify the major themes and controversies in sexuality studies and how these themes and controversies have changed during the past few decades. They also point to directions that they see the sociological study of sexuality moving in the near future.
