The Prosperity Gospel Through the Lens of Weber and Veblen

Abstract

Through the use of Thorstein Veblen’s work on temperament, a new theoretical approach to analyzing the prosperity gospel is offered. The analysis compares Max Weber’s protestant to the prosperity gospel adherent in order to demonstrate how Veblen’s lens serves as a viable alternative to competing theoretical perspectives.
