About Annual Meeting
In this paper I first summarize the initial formulation and the subsequent reformulation of the concept of hegemonic masculinity. Second, I briefly discuss three of my recent research projects to illustrate examples of differing global hegemonic masculinities. In particular, I concentrate on the similarities and differences among the global hegemonic masculinities of Osama bin Laden, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama, and how the latter two clash with the former. Finally, I close by relating these hegemonic masculinities to the “global war on terror.”
