About Annual Meeting
This roundtable would discuss best-practices for promoting standards of reproducibility and replication in both the teaching and practice of quantitative and qualitative research. High-profile scandals and questions about accuracy and legitimacy of data, along with troubling findings that much of social science fails to be reproducible or replicable when attempted, has led to much conversation and hand-wringing across the social sciences. But Sociology seems to lag behind other disciplines in addressing these issues in any systematic way. Discussion would focus on empirically-tested protocols that have worked for conventional quantitative analysis and how similar protocols could potentially be developed for other types of research.
