Security and Uncertainty in Global Sports Events: The Case of the Olympic Games

Sat, August 20, 4:30 to 5:30pm, TBA

Abstract

This paper is a part of a larger project, the aim of which is to understand in historic terms the dynamic relationship between security and uncertainty in global planned events, using the Olympic Games as a case study. More specifically, this is an effort to begin to systematically build a theory of security through surveillance in the Olympics through close and on-going analysis of empirical evidence, taking the complexity of the event into account empirically and theoretically.
