About Annual Meeting
This paper provides an overview of how researchers employed cognitive interviewing techniques to pre-test survey questions proposed for inclusion in the elder mistreatment module of the third wave of the National Social Life Health and Aging Project (NSHAP). Findings presented are based on qualitative data, collected using cognitive interviews with (N = 18) older adults. The paper begins by providing background on how past waves of NSHAP data collection have informed elder mistreatment research, particular questions asked, and a review of key findings. It concludes with an overview of the final questions included for NSHAP Wave 3 data and suggested analyses.
