Session Submission Type: Workshop
Keeping in line with the mission of the caucus, this panel will provide an opportunity to have a dialogue about how our queer identities impact various aspects of the research process, which may include, but are certainly not limited to: acquiring funding, IRB experiences, collaborating with other scholars, fieldwork, publishing, etc.
The panel will consist of scholars at various stages of their academic careers (e.g., senior scholars, junior scholars, post-docs, and graduate students). Past panels were primarily comprised of Associate and Full Professors, which was another problem identified in the survey that this panel will overcome. In addition, we have included panelists from both research and teaching centered institutions in order to reflect the diversity of experiences sociologists have based on their milieu.
The workshop will be open to all ASA members, and affiliation with the ASA Sociologists LGBTQ Caucus is not required. In fact, these workshops not only serve the needs of the existing members of the caucus, but also help to make the caucus more visible to other members of ASA.
