In the face of global capitalism, conditions for indigenous communities have worsen and organizing to against exclusion and dispossession have taken on diverse strategies around the world. Unlike previous indigenous movements, the new movements call for all countries to recognize the rights of indigenous populations, including the right to self-determination, and the right to preserve their culture and heritage.
