Description

The Black Lives Matter movement punctuated the need to bring social movement and race scholars into conversation, who have mostly spoken past each other. How can theoretical positions in both literatures help us understand the role of race as an identity category and social structure in the mobilization process? How do racial categories become a site for political action? Papers in this session are will address these questions and others that contribute to a lively dialogue on race and social movements.
