Description
Why and under what conditions do nationalist ideas spark social mobilization? Why do they sometimes fall short? What is the relation between capitalism and nationalism? How do ideas of "the public" shape processes of political development? These are questions that lie at the heart of comparative-historical sociological understandings of state-society relations. This panel will bring together an array of papers that address these key questions and more.
