About Annual Meeting
Sociologists are increasingly focusing their research on topics surrounding food’s central role in societies. Any sociologist whose research includes food’s place within social life is welcome to join in a discussion of the future direction of food within the discipline. The objective of this gathering is to determine what trends are emerging within sociological studies of food. This discussion session will serve as a venue for sociologists to network and share ideas about food studies within the sociological discipline. Participants should be prepared to brainstorm how to elevate the profile of food studies as a sociological subfield. There will be an effort to identify areas of overlapping research on food within sociology to encourage efforts for promoting research and publishing within those areas of sociological food studies.
