About Annual Meeting
This article calls attention to the sociological limitations of utilizing Critical Race Theory (CRT), as a valuable contribution to the discipline. I argue that the sociological apprehension to incorporating CRT is rooted in similar ways to the limits of using feminist theory. CRT and feminist theorizing challenge traditional sociology by centering of the voice of minority scholars, praxis driven theorizing, and the erasure of Outsider knowledge. To show this, I draw on an analysis of the literature that examines the incorporation of intersectionality within sociology and the limitations around using the mantra ‘race is a social construct’.
