About Annual Meeting
This project explores the differences between disabled elderly persons who do and do not receive assistance, using the 2004 waves of the Health and Retirement Study dataset and of the National Long-Term Care Survey dataset. Over half of both samples do not get help. In the HRS sample, net of other factors, married respondents and Black respondents are more likely to receive assistance. Also, respondents with less income, those with more health conditions, and those who report feeling in worse health are more likely to get help.
