Global Citizenship Beyond the Carceral State

Abstract

How can global citizenship be understood when returning citizens are central to its definition? How does this answer change when an organization of, by and for returning citizens collaborates with a large state university to provide its answer? This paper explores the process and contributions of a colloquium between Reconstruction, Inc. (Philadelphia, PA) and Ohio State University. Global citizenship of affiliates of both institution and organization understand its meaning better long after the end of the colloquium's final event.
