Description
What is the relationship between childhood and power? The sociology of youth and childhood has long emphasized young people's agency, and this panel extends that commitment, though not without complication. How is children's power formed against, through, and within the powers of states, organizations, adults and other children? How are questions of children's power contingent on broader questions of culture, violence, and socialization? How might sociologists challenge normative ruts that fetishize either children's resistance or their plasticity?
