What Does Social Justice Feminism Look Like?

Abstract

Juxtaposing #Metoo with #Black Lives Matter and #IdleNoMore I question the critique of Hester Eisenstein, Nancy Fraser, and Wendy Brown that feminism is complicit with neolliberalism. I ask which feminism is complicit? By erasing the racialized nature of the "feminism" they critique, they marginalize the subaltern feminisms in North America. Starting with these subaltern feminisms, I outline their contributions to reimagining social justice that begins with addressing ongoing settler colonialism and imperialism and articulating new subjectivities and prefigurative politics.
