Intersectionality, Decoloniality, and the Analyses of Silence

Abstract

Recent discussions on global knowledge hierarchies have repeatedly pointed to transnational assemblages that contribute to silencing of many theoretical approaches that do not fit Global North agendas. How might we hear silenced voices? At the same time scholars have been discussing ways of making intersectionality more globally relevant, paying attention to scales and spaces in which social lives unfold. Can these streams of conversation be brought together to productively move towards more socially just, globally relevant, nuanced understandings of power, privileges, boundaries, and marginalization that lie at the heart of intersectionality?
