Literature has well-documented the ambivalence in inter-generational relationship and its impact on health and well-being. Yet, few study has explored ambivalence's effect on health in marriage. Using data from National Social Life, Health, and aging Project, this study is going to explore the simultaneous experience of the positive and negative attitudes in marriage and well-being. Results suggest that overall ambivalence in marriage negatively associated with well-being among old married couple, yet such relationship varied by gender. The study also found that the relationship between ambivalence and well-being is dominatingly driven by the negative part of the ambivalence.
