Overt Advocacy for Antibiotics: A Study of Caregiver Actions in Chinese and American Pediatric Encounters

Abstract

In this study I examine pediatric interactions between clinicians, caregivers and children in China. I describe some of the quite overt ways that caregivers lobby for antibiotics, commonly IV antibiotics that are rarely used outside of hospitalizations in the US and Europe.
