This study uses qualitative data to investigate the processes of intersectionality with three Black undergraduate women as they use literacy to navigate their personal lives, community, and most importantly their university. To date, very view studies have focused on the literacy experiences of Black women in a university setting via an intersectional framework. Using a writing group developed with a critical racialized instructional context, questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, group discussions and dialogue, and reflective journaling humanized and liberated this group of black women from the role of serving as "props in the narratives of Black men."
