Abstract

This paper is meant to serve as a means to workshop this draft of the introduction to a book I am writing on vintage clothing consumers and sellers and vintage style. This introduction explains the differences between categories of clothing including secondhand, consignment, antique, retro and vintage clothing, I take a detailed look at the social construction of “vintage” as a category of clothing.
