This paper argues that more attention should be paid to understanding the role that wealthy Latino neighborhoods play in contributing to spatial inequality across the U.S. urban landscape. The majority of studies on Latino neighborhoods tend to focus on low-income neighborhoods (e.g. barrios) and have rarely examined their wealthy counterparts. As a result, we know relatively little about wealthy Latino neighborhoods. Thus, this exploratory paper uses data from the U.S. Census and the American Community Survey to examine trends of wealthy Latino neighborhoods in major U.S. metropolitan regions from 2000 to 2017. The analysis focuses on four major research questions: (1) How many wealthy Latino neighborhoods exist? (2) What are their racial/ethnic compositions? (3) What are their spatial orientations relative to poor Latino neighborhoods? (4) What factors are associated with wealthy Latino neighborhoods?
