This study examines the factors that affect professional life satisfaction among APPs. The goal is to identify modifiable factors that can help maintain professional life satisfaction among APPs so that they sustain their clinical practice and assist physicians in reducing barriers to accessing care. From November 2016-April 2017, the study team administered 2 web-based surveys, one for NPs and one for PAs. Recruitment occurred via professional society listservs/email blasts and via direct email invitations using a proprietary database. A total of 215 NPs and 395 PAs completed the surveys. Several factors affected professional life satisfaction included time spent conducting research/teaching, race, age, and practice location. Recommendations are provided to improve professional life satisfaction among APPs.
