Description

This panel will feature sociologists with an active social media presence discussing how they use various platforms to advance social justice that is informed by sociological knowledge. In an era of both pronounced inequality and rapid technological change, social media is an integral means of reaching a wide population outside of academia and sharing ideas that might otherwise be confined to this particular space. Yet academics who use this platform also risk backlash in the form of doxxing, hate emails, or threats. This panel features sociologists who will discuss how to thread this needle to promote sociological insights that can create social justice.
