1256 - Caring in an Unjust World

Sat, August 10, 10:30am to 12:10pm, Sheraton New York, Floor: Second Floor, Metropolitan Ballroom West

Session Submission Type: Invited Session

Description

One of the fastest growing industries are related to caregiving for children, the elderly, disabled, and sick. At the same time, the activity of caregiving exists as both paid and unpaid labor and continues to be characterized as “women’s work.” The globalized market has relegated much of this labor to low-wage migrant women workers. Panelists explore care work in our increasing unjust world of economic, political and social inequality.
