1546 - The Gendered Life Course: Life Course Studies of Women's Lives

Sat, August 10, 4:30 to 6:10pm, Sheraton New York, Floor: Lower Level, Bowery

Session Submission Type: Paper Session 100min

Description

It is a well-accepted fact that the life course is “gendered” in the sense that the lives of men and women, the role choices and transitions involved are different. This group of papers presents several different types of studies of what these differences involve, and the extent to which life course theory can incorporate these patterns. This topic is relatively neglected, but recently there have been a number of scholars who have focused life course thinking on how our lives are gendered.
