Semi-structured interviews conducted with Afro-Polish and other black Polish residents/immigrants provide further context to peripheral European spaces on issues of antiblack racism. These interviews provided evidence for a grounded theory on racial consciousness that I call the Racial Consciousness Continuum (RCC) that leads to discussions on “Blackness” and “Europeanness.” Poland has been considered by many to be on the outskirts or outer boundaries of “Europe” and what it means to be European. This project seeks to contextualize People of African Descent within Poland and surrounding countries as they grapple with being on the European periphery which therefore leads them to conceptualize their standing on the Black European periphery.
