Exploring Whites' Fear of Rising Diversity in Urban Areas and Its Connection to Hate Crimes

Abstract

This study aims to explore the relationship betweeen the white population's perceptions of the rising diversity in urban area and its connection to hate crimes. Since hate crimes are mostly committed by majority, this research want to dig deep on why majority are resulting to committing crimes against the minority, and one reason this research focus on is perceived fears. In exploring perceived fears, the research will also take a look at news media since media can shape the way a person thinks. This research will further the understanding of hate crimes and explore the complexities of interracial interactions.
