This study investigates racial dynamics and diversity initiatives at California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly), known for its predominantly white student body. It explores how institutional policies and social structures affect the experiences and sense of belonging of students of color. Through personal narratives and analysis of diversity programs like Week of Welcome (WOW) and the Cross Cultural Experience (CCE), the research identifies challenges and opportunities for fostering inclusivity. Despite initiatives by the Office of University Diversity and Inclusion (OUDI), incidents of racism persist, highlighting the need for more effective strategies to create an equitable campus community. Recommendations include enhancing diversity training and promoting dialogue among students to bridge racial divides and promote understanding.
