This invited session introduces attendees to a panel of sociologists who have begun or moved their careers to spaces outside academia. For some scholars, this sounds like a fascinating way to do sociological research and analysis without worrying about an academic year calendar and all it entails. But how did these individuals end up in these spaces? What are some of the necessary skill sets and networks needed to enter into these career choices? And what possible barriers or challenges are there when it comes to doing so? The presenters in this session may put your mind at ease as you prepare to decide where you would like to be and what you would like to do in the future.
