Recent scholarship has given significant attention to altruism and morality, yet the closely connected concept of solidarity has often receded into the background. While contemporary discussions often focus on "solidarity with" specific groups in times of need, solidarity as a standalone concept carries wider meanings and implications. In the context of altruism and morality, understanding solidarity is crucial since these interrelated concepts collectively shape social structures and behaviors. This session will showcase papers that investigate new perspectives and theoretical directions for understanding social solidarity, both as an independent concept and in its interplay with altruism and morality.
