Pandemic teaching provided an opportunity for students, instructors, and classmates to meet each other’s companion animals in the Zoom or synchronous learning environment. However, the role of non-human animals in higher education did not begin or end there. The sociological consideration of the place of animals in pedagogy, classrooms, and on campuses remains under-explored. In this invited session, panelists will share their experiences, empirical insights, and sociological knowledge about the many ways animals are a part of teaching and learning.
