On February 3, sociology lost one of its most influential figures. Professor Michael Burawoy was a former president of the American Sociological Association, the International Sociological Association, a leading Marxist sociologist, and a staunch advocate of public sociology. He was also a dedicated mentor, friend, and colleague. In this session, some of the many sociologists who benefited from his scholarship, teaching, and friendship will honor him with a discussion of his life and legacy.
