The ushering in of the new technologies inevitably changes the dynamics of how individuals work and the contextual factors that affect every day community life. How do the new technologies of work pose challenges to future scholarship and current methodologies of advancing our scholarship in areas of sociological research? How do the current technologies of AI, etc. affect public sociological discourse, grassroots public health work and the everydayness of how we do sociology ? It appears we are faced with more questions than answers. In the face of this advancing technological landscape, how could we as scholars bring together the creative responses of the sociological community to address the state of the discipline and nation as to how we as scholars use this current moment to strengthen our sociological work to further sociological-humanitarian goals.
90 Minute Workshop Panel Foci:
How do we as scholars come together across generations to respond to the current technological and political moment?
In this Workshop Panel, participants will gain a better understanding of :
1. Identifying sociological and political tensions of AI technologies in grassroots community context(s).
2. Areas of interest that the community of academic scholars engaged in sociological social inequality research may have about the new technologies and the field of academic research.
3. How the new technologies could invest as well as divest in marginalized community struggles.
4. Sociological inquiries from public sociologists engaged in social justice and/or the new technologies of work.
