The sociology of disaster has long established that social inequalities shape the experience of both disaster events and their aftermath. The papers in this session push our understanding further by taking up questions of inequality as a product of state violence, exclusions, and failures, as well as by critically examining the existing frameworks we have for thinking about disaster governance.
