This panel takes seriously the interconnected nature of social categories like race, class, gender, age, ability, and sexual orientation, and how these categories create overlapping and interdependent systems of exclusion, marginalization, or disadvantage. Collectively, these scholars draw from theoretical, methodological, and ideological approaches to advance our understanding of the social world through an intersectional lens.
