Description

This Pavilion Talk will feature ASA Executive Director Heather Washington, ASA Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grant Program Officer Carolyn Vasques Scalera, and Sociology Action Network advisory board members Nancy Plankey-Videla (Texas A&M University) and Mark R. Warren (University of Massachusetts Boston). During the session, participants will learn about the ASA William T. Grant Foundation-funded project, entitled Shifting the Academic Ecology to Support Community-Engaged Scholarship in Tenure and Promotion in Sociology, and will be introduced to the ASA’s new online toolkit, “How to Include Community-Engaged Scholarship in the Tenure and Promotion Process.” Learn why community-engaged scholarship is a critical approach to sociological research, and how to ensure that your own community-engaged scholarship is recognized and rewarded in your tenure and promotion process.
