This paper draws on racial formations as a framework for interrogating the creation and deployment of racialized categories of identity in web-based pornography. I argue that major geopolitical events within the U.S. American context catalyst the production of racialized taxonomies on digital platforms, revealing a dialectical relationship between racialized indexing systems and the broader sociopolitical forces that constitute them.
