Sociological theories aim to explain the underlying science of human societies. Edward J. Lawler's exchange theory, Jonathan Turner's role theory and Michele Gelfand's theory of tightness explains the basis of human interaction, social group formation, and culture difference between societies. When integrated, these three theories collectively explain the formation of group solidarity between gender non-conforming marginalized social groups, such as the Hijra community in South Asia. The paper combines the three sociological theories to describe the group solidarity formation between the Hijra community and analyzes how Hijra individuals interact with the community to express solidarity.
