Does it live up to the promise? Long run effects of private schooling in India

Sun, August 9, 10:00 to 11:00am, TBA

Abstract

Choosing to send one’s child to private school has remained one of the key ways via which parents aspire for and enact social mobility in developing countries, especially India. Using three rounds of Indian Human Development Survey (2005-05, 2011-12, 2022-04), the paper assesses association between private schooling (during K-12), and its association with future college completion. Preliminary results show that attending private school is associated with 7 percentage points higher likelihood of college completion.
