Larger social, cultural, economic, and global forces shape local communities, community work, and services. In this paper, I discuss the importance of integrating community-based experiential learning pedagogy into sociology courses. First, I discuss the initial steps and processes of identifying and approaching relevant local organizations for a collaborative course project. I highlight the practices and services of local organizations in response to changing social, cultural, and economic landscapes. Then I discuss students’ community-based experiential learning projects conducted at various local organizations. Finally, I share students’ reflections and the insights they gained through their experiential learning projects.
