Insurgent Feminisms in Turbulent Times: In Dialogue with Chandra Talpade Mohanty

Tue, August 11, 8:00 to 9:30am, TBA

Session Submission Type: Invited Session (90 minute)

Description

This panel brings together cross-generational feminist scholars for a conversation with Chandra Talpade Mohanty, whose body of work has defined feminist, anti-capitalist, transnational, and decolonial studies for over four decades. Anchored by her recent book, Insurgent Visions: Feminism, Justice, Solidarity, the session will reflect on Mohanty’s enduring contributions to feminist thought and activism, from her groundbreaking critiques of Western feminist epistemologies to her vision of insurgent and decolonial feminisms.

Interlocutors will engage with Mohanty’s body of work, responding to key themes and provocations that resonate in the current political moment marked by intensifying authoritarianism, genocide, racial violence, and feminist resistance. Together, they will explore the challenges and possibilities of building transnational feminist solidarities in these turbulent times.
