Critical heterosexualities in the Sociology of Sexualities

Sat, August 8, 8:00 to 9:30am, TBA

Description

This session engages critical approaches to the study of heterosexuality, a core topic within a subfield often conflated with sexual minorities. This session invites papers that interrogate heterosexuality not as a given or default, but as a socially constructed, historically contingent, and politically charged identity, desire, and practice. We seek submissions that explore how heterosexuality is regulated, reproduced, and resisted across diverse contexts, paying attention to intersections with race, class, gender, ability, and nation. We welcome theoretical, empirical, and interdisciplinary contributions that advance the sociological understanding of heterosexualities.
