Session Submission Type: Invited Session (90 minute)
This session engages in a quarter-century assessment of the promise of cultural sociology. Papers examine the horizon of meaning and affect in historical context. Authors explore the historicity of current problems such as polarization, and populism from a hermeneutical perspective. This panel prioritizes the autonomy of culture while embedding the social phenomena under investigation in their historical milieux and centering audience agency.
