Session Submission Type: Meeting
Matthias Koening, most recently Professor of Empirical Macrosociology at Heidelberg University and Vice President of the DfG embodied true transatlantic intellectual engagement, spending extended periods at Harvard and University of Toronto. He was a friend and mentor to many of us in this community: a laudable scholar, a leader in the fields of migration, religion and law, and a wonderful person: so gentle, disciplined, hard-working, fair, imaginative, dedicated to public service, and principled. In this memorial, several of his colleagues and friends will share reflections about his life and career.
